When incorporating spiritual healing in anorexia and bulimia recovery, a book like this one uses eating disorder Christian treatment to promote positive body image.

Sometimes a book comes out that helps with spiritual healing in anorexia and bulimia recovery. Kimberly Davidson does that in her new book that incorporates eating disorder Christian treatment into her philosophy.

Recovering from an eating disorder, whether it be anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, or compulsive overeating, is a long and often painful journey. The difficulty lies in the many ups and downs, pitfalls and obstacles that present themselves.

Full recovery is possible, though, and many who have suffered from an eating disorder go on to live happy lives. Although what’s most often reported in the media are stories of death and sickness, it is possible to live life after anorexia, bulimia or binge eating.

Something that is really being focused on in treatment programs is spiritual healing. Therapists are realizing the importance of incorporating a higher being into their programs and sometimes incorporate eating disorder Christian treatment.

Kimberly Davidson does just that. A licensed minister, inspirational speaker, teacher, writer, and founder of Olive Branch Outreach, she is the author of I’m Beautiful? Why Can’t I See It?

The book is a guide to spiritual healing through God and is focused on women and young girls who “seek healing with a hungry soul.” She writes about the need for people with unhealthy eating patterns and a poor relationship with their bodies, to have unconditional love, forgiveness and acceptance.

Organized into a 13-week program to healing, I’m Beautiful? Why Can’t I See It? takes the reader through specific steps in her eating disorder Christian treatment program. Each chapter (or week) contains an inspirational saying, reflective questions and reading material. Some also include writing activities.

  • Week One: God’s Character
  • Week Two: Pursuing Perfection God’s Way
  • Week Three: Why Do I Hurt?
  • Week Four: Seeking the Truth
  • Week Five: Your Mind is the Battlefield
  • Week Six: The Heart of Anger
  • Week Seven: Peace with God
  • Week Eight: Adventure of Self-Discovery
  • Week Nine: Freedom Through Forgiveness
  • Week Ten: Healing for Life
  • Week Eleven: Nutrition for Your Temple
  • Week Twelve: The Road to Damascus

As well as providing those who are seeking recovery with information, the back of the book offers a Group Leaders Guide. This chapter is for those who want to help others by using the book as a guide.
